Looking at buying one of the Schmidt 3.5 cf. units to do paint removal on an old (100+) year old building. What size air compressor will I need and can the unit use the Armex (soda) blasting media?

The standard small pot 3.5(PN 6001-031-01) design is not compatible with soda(Armex). I would recommend the M21 or M31(PN 8720-021 or 8720-031), which is a multimedia capable of blasting sodium bicarbonate or any other type of abrasive that can gravity flow. Please contact us to assist you with locating the most qualified authorized Schmidt distributor near you.

Regarding the sizing of the air compressor, the size of your blast nozzle and your blast pressure will determine your compressed air consumption. Please refer to the chart on the Axxiom website to estimate your consumption. You should size your compressor larger than your consumption to accomdate for control air requirements.

Axxiom also manufactures the Accustrip line 11SX, 12SX, and 13SX that is specifically designed for Armex.
